During the month of November, OffLeash will be collecting blankets, sheets, towels, comforters, etc. to donate to animal shelters and rescue facilities in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Counties. Shelter animals that sit on comfortable bedding are more likely to be adopted. When visitors come to the shelters, it is more pleasing to see an animal in a home-like setting. All items must be clean and not ripped. For more information, call OffLeash at 805-957-4500.

The Monthly Doos calendar has been Americas favorite gag gift. As seen on CNN, Good Morning America, The Today show and most recently on the Tonite show, it has been described as “so bad it’s good” and “so wrong it’s right”. A parody of scenic calendars, Monthly Doos takes “a fact of life that’s touched us all” and photographs it in gorgeous scenic locations from Canada to Mexico. More than just high art, inside there’s fun facts, trivia, and stories about man’s best friends “best work” Also featured are photos of the hounds that made the mounds, our canine “artistes” The perfect white elephant, gift exchange/gag gift, Monthly Doos is always the hit of the party!

Make sure your dog stays cool this summer with the Chillybuddy Cooling Jacket. Chillybuddy Dog Cooling Jacket is a light-weight mesh cooling jacket designed specifically to help keep a dog comfortable in hot weather and reduce the effect of exposure to the sun. The jacket’s outer layer is made of woven synthetic with an aluminized finish. The twisted strands of the fabric function like thousands of tiny mirrors, reflecting all wavelengths of light away from the surface. The jacket is lined with a cotton mesh. Both layers allow air to pass freely through. The cotton mesh liner can be wetted to provide substantial evaporative cooling. Unlike other wet jackets, the evaporation occurs in the shade of the outer layer, creating an unusually cool environment on the hottest days.

We are happy to announce that we have received word that the episode of the Dog Whisperer featuring our whippets, Rudy & Monte, will be aired on Friday, May 30th at 8pm PST. As you may know, we auditioned for the show last year since Rudy, our 8 year-old whippet, was not pleased with dogs shopping in our Santa Barbara pet boutique . As a result, he would be somewhat aggressive and territorial. Because of his behavior, we kept him in the back room all day, and this was breaking my heart.
To see how Cesar helped Rudy (and me, too), tune into the Dog Whisperer on National Geographic on Friday, May 30th 8 pm.

Happy Birthday SunnyBoy! We are happy to report that Sunny, our kitty, turned 16 on Friday, May 16th. Sunny was born and raised in Santa Barbara CA and is the big brother to Sierra and Sunny and two canine siblings, Rudy & Monte. Sunny has been very healthy thanks to the wonderful care that he receives from Dr. George, his Vet, of All Cats Clinic in Ventura, CA. Stop by OffLeash–where pets meet style–to wish Sunny a Happy Birthday. We’ll be sure to pass the message on to him.
On Sunday, March 30th, Don, Rudy, Monte and I attended a Reunion Party celebrating the 100th Episode of the Dog Whisperer. The reunion was held at the Pickwick Gardens in Burbank with many of the people who have appeared on the show or who will be appearing in the 2008 season.
There were 104 balanced dogs in attendance. We were amazed at how ‘balanced’ the dogs were. There was virtually no barking and the dogs were well behaved for the entire 4 hours! Rudy & Monte were so mellow and often times just chilled out on the grass. If someone had told me a year ago that I would have been hanging out with 104 dogs at a party and my dogs would have been lying on the grass relaxing, I would have thought they were crazy. Check out the Photo Gallery to see some of the pictures of Rudy, Monte & Daddy at the party.
We didn’t have a chance to thank Cesar again as the crowd was large and he was being filmed a lot of the time. It was nice to see the production crew again who had spent the day with us back in November for the filming.
We suspect our show will be aired some time this April or May.
